About US

Department of zoology was established in the year 1965 (initially for undergraduate courses) with the aim of imparting education in the subject of zoology (animal sciences) at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post graduate department was started in the year 1985. At present, the department offers undergraduate courses at three different levels (F. Y., S. Y. and T.Y.)  and post graduate courses with specialization in Oceanography and Fishery Sciences. All courses are aided and the department is grantable hence eligible to receive the grants from various Government sources in the country.  The department is also pioneer in research activities having the evidence of three research projects and various research papers published in reputed journals of the field. The department has separate laboratories with all necessary equipments for both undergraduate and postgraduate classes. The Department of Zoology has an additional ‘Departmental Library’ which is furnished with all the textbooks as per the curriculum of University of Mumbai, thus facilitating the students and teachers effectively.
