Once upon a time this department was the abode of Chartered Accountants. Of late many of them have retired and vacancies have not been filled. The management is keen to fill up the vacancies for 3 more teachers in the department but have been hampered by the policies of Govt/University and JD office. However with contractual teachers the department is still successfully carrying out its tasks and churning out bright students at the UG as well as PG level.
Presently more than 2500 students are there who are studying for specialization in the field of Accounts through B. Com. and M. Com. courses.
Many of our students have moved to countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc for brighter prospects. Our students have also taken up coveted posts within and outside the country as well. Our past students are now faculty members in the Department of Accountancy/Commerce at various reputed colleges in University of Mumbai. A cursory glance at the list of alumni speaks wonders of the department of Accountancy/Commerce.
